Skewered, grilled and baked — meat on a stick is great for summer cooking

South Dakota has its version of cubed meat on stick, chislic. These deep-fried cubes of lamb, mutton, beef or venison are served with toothpicks and a few Saltine crackers on the side, maybe some hot sauce of choice. Depending on which South Dakota town you live in, these juicy morsels might be sprinkled with garlic salt or Lawry's Seasoned Salt or served with ranch dressing.
